October Bull Run
Many people have mixed feelings about bull fighting and any "games" involving bulls.  However, in Spain it is a major attraction and no different here in Castril.  For many years a bull run has taken place in the local village and it has become very popular over the years with tourists coming from all over for the 3 day event.

The local bull run is held annually.  The fiesta starts the first Sunday in October with four days being religious events.  The bull run takes place on the final three days namely;  Friday, Saturday and Sunday - starting on these days at approximately 4pm going on until 8pm.

During the bull run various "teams" which are clearly seen by the groups and their t-shirts, enter the square and try to get hold of the bull.  When they get hold of their horns, they are the winners.  This bull is then taken in, and another one bought out.  Bulls differ in size from very young bulls to mature bulls.

A big tradition here in Castril the event draws in crowds from all over Spain, and "Sangria" is the aim of the day - to drink as much as they can!!!

The groups mentioned above have big 25 litres drums and you will need to stand clear of them if you do not want to get covered in drink!  As part of their own celebrations they drink, then throw drink at their friends - unfortunately if you get in the way you best clothes could get ruined....

My tip is: wear dark clothes - and something that you don't mind if it gets damaged!
