Drinking and Driving

Do you know the penalties for Drink Driving in Spain?  If not, then read on…..

Living in a rural area, some people tend to think that there are less police around to pull you over for drinking when driving.  This may or may not be the case, but be warned (!)  Drink and Drive, get caught, and there will be penalties.

If the Guardia Civil or Police pull you over these are possible consequences:

  • You can have your licence removed on the spot
  •
Your car can be impounded on the spot
  • You also run the risk of being arrested and having to spend the night in jail
  • Penalties include jail for up to six months, fines and community service

Not much fun all for the sake of a few bevies…

The limits here are much lower than what you are allowed to drink in the UK.

Maximum Alcohol Level

All drivers are forbidden to drive any vehicle with alcohol levels exceeding>

Exhaled Air

Apart from the fact that you risk killing yourself or others in your company, you also risk killing completely innocent people that happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Think carefully – Don’t Drink & Drive
